precious bodily fluids

Anyone know what movie the title is from? Come on...you know.

So, there is roughly 1 month until the marathon, and I'm trying really hard to be a good girl and train all by myself. I think it's been going OK. However, I have developed a problem that has become a slight inconvenience.

I can't stop sweating.

I got home from my run about 40 minutes ago, ate some food, took a shower, got partially dressed (because if I were fully clothed I'd just have to change again), and I'm still sweating buckets! I decided to sit at the computer for a little while thinking that if I sat down and rested my body would decide it would be OK to turn off the faucet, but I'm still sweating like a large man.

I guess NOT sweating would probably indicate a slightly bigger inconvenience. Like maybe a trip to the ER for a liter of fluids. So I'll count my blessings.

a thousand times no

Tonight after dinner we started playing that game where you can't say a specific word. You know the one? Everyone wears clothsepins and if you say the word you have to give up your pin. It's all kinds of family fun. Tonight our word was "no". It was epic. I lose these kinds of games really really fast, so I gave up and turned to the camera.

After a while it got boring for everyone to keep the pins on their shirts, so they started showing up on all kinds of fun and painful looking places. That became almost as entertaining as the game.

A cousin party.

Lily's relationship with her cousing Chloe is such a happy one. They are like sisters, which is one thing niether of them have. Lily spent a lot of the summer at Chloe's house while I worked, and that made them even closer. They are so cute when they play, and they both really "get" eachother, just like sisters do. A few years ago, before they started really spending a lot of time together, we found out Chloe was obsessed with dinosaurs. We though that was so odd because Lily was also having a dinosaur phase, which we found amusing in a 3 year old girl. Well, here they are a few years and at least 3 dinosaur birthday parties later (between the two of them), and they are still old chums.

Here's to many more years of dinosaur cupcakes...

Happy birthday Chloe!

heard from the next room over

"Hey Mom! I just made some nunchucks out of tin foil!"

So that's why I keep running out of tin foil.

Only a little neglected

So...the kids started school last week. I now have 2 children in school all day, which means that I get a lot more time at home to get caught up on what-nots. Today those what-nots include dishes, laundry, general house cleaning, and BLOGGING! I'm hoping to keep up a little better now that I have more time. I miss it, and I love looking back to see what we've done, so I need to be better about getting it down. Also, I've been cheating on Blogger with another blog service, and I've come crawling back begging for forgiveness. So I'll be getting all those other blogs exported back to this one soon.

So, school.

The kids are having a good year so far. Oh, we've had the occasional whining and begging to play hookey, but for the most part it's been good. They are enjoying their teachers and making new friends.

The one blemish to our start was that Lily (who begged for school lunch) did not realize that I had paid for her lunch already, and thought she needed to pay. So she didn't tell anyone, she just didn't have lunch. Good thing I packed string cheese and carrots the first couple of days because I think that's all she ate the first two days of school. I felt SO BAD!!
But we got it all figured out, and yesterday I went to lunch with her so she could show me how to go through the lunch line.

I was proud of her for making good choices.

We ran into Amy who works in the library...Hi Amy!

We talked about which foods give your body vitamins and which foods keep you full for the rest of the day. While she was eating her cinnamon roll.

And then she and Tess posed for the camera.

Happily we got the lunch situation sorted out. However, I was dismayed at the general poor quality of the main fare. I sampled Lily's taco and it was pretty gross. I guess they have to make it sort of bland for the kids to eat it, but seriously...yuck. I would send the kids with homemade lunches, but they both insist on school lunch. I wonder how much of it is a social thing, but I think I'll have lunch with her more often to try the other stuff. Maybe (hopefully) it was just the tacos that are bad. I was impressed with the salad bar, though, and Lily eats veggies so that's good.

More later.
