Lazy New Year

To start off the new year

I worked a total of 27 hours over the last 2 days...add two sick kids + recovering from having guests the last few days + family reunion + Christmas right before that = I have a really messy house. I care a lot less about that than I used to, but it still makes me a little anxious when it gets this bad. Only one thing to do at this point...take a picture and get to work.

Bed...made.

Babes in Sand Hollow

Image created with Snapseed

I knitted these two goodies for some babies being born soon. I LOVE this pattern! Sweatshop of love from Ravelry...just for my own remembrance. It's just a basic pattern but with a lot of variations. I've been having a bit of a knitting renaissance probably due to the holiday season upon us. I have a poncho on needles for Lily out of leftover green, and a sack full of brights I originally bought for stockings but I think will turn into a throw for the couch.
Alex, what can I knit for you?

Color Me Rad

Did the Color Me Rad 5k last month with Shauna and Shelly. Megan, I really wish we would have met up with you and Seth! It was super fun. I'd love to run with these ladies again.

Green teeth, purple hair, 80's glasses askew...don't we look Rad?

Oh, so THAT"S why I can't see...

I don't know what I'm #1 of. We didn't come in first or anything.

Then we went to Judd's and had hot cheese soup and breadsticks. It was soooo Good!

And I may have gotten a little picture happy.
Good times.

A Halloween recap

Well, it wouldn't be December without some sort of Halloween post, now would it?

Jake brought home giant pumpkins for all to carve...

One of the most fun things about pumpkin carving to me are the designs the kids come up with. We always try to represent their art accurately. They were really cute this year. Don't ask me HOW there is not a picture. There probably is on my phone, so if I can find it I'll update. I can't imagine I don't have one somewhere.

Here is Lily thinking about her design.

Lily was a kitty this year. I knitted her paws.

WHAAAAAAA!!! Oh, sorry...it's just Alex dressed as a spooky hooded figure. I think he wanted this costume as much for his videos he likes to make as for his Halloween costume. He was quite eerie.

Hi Lily!

For Trick-or-treating I painted her face. It was kind of last minute, so I was glad it turned out as well as it did. Do you see the chip in her front tooth? That's from the bump on the head that caused her nasty concussion a few months back. I don't think I've recorded that story anywhere, so maybe that's a future post.

So Alex, how am I doing? Leave me a comment if I've left anything out. :)

A few fall memories

Lily learned how to ride a 2-wheeler a couple months ago. It should be it's own post, but needless to say we are very proud of her. Once she got it down on her little bike, it was only a couple of days before she dared brave riding Alex's old "big bike". She is riding like a champ. However, since this bike has had a few...accidents (like being run over by the minivan) she will probably get a new one soon.( Maybe we'll ask the big man in the red suit for one. :)

I don't exactly know what's happening here, but it seemed noteworthy...

I love how they are all barefoot...

A good old fashioned gunny sack race at the Spooky Town Fair...

This look is not representative of their actual feeling of the fair. There were just a lot of bees by the cookies, and it was a little dis-concerning.

Buster and Horsey...

As Alex has been reading my blog more often, and as we head into the holiday season, and as I just had two cameras fixed, I will post more soon.

Pictures from the phone

While trying to empty my dropbox folder, and also trying to keep up on the small blogging streak I've begun, I thought I'd post some pictures from my phone. I little summer endcap, if you will.

precious bodily fluids

Anyone know what movie the title is from? Come on...you know.

So, there is roughly 1 month until the marathon, and I'm trying really hard to be a good girl and train all by myself. I think it's been going OK. However, I have developed a problem that has become a slight inconvenience.

I can't stop sweating.

I got home from my run about 40 minutes ago, ate some food, took a shower, got partially dressed (because if I were fully clothed I'd just have to change again), and I'm still sweating buckets! I decided to sit at the computer for a little while thinking that if I sat down and rested my body would decide it would be OK to turn off the faucet, but I'm still sweating like a large man.

I guess NOT sweating would probably indicate a slightly bigger inconvenience. Like maybe a trip to the ER for a liter of fluids. So I'll count my blessings.

a thousand times no

Tonight after dinner we started playing that game where you can't say a specific word. You know the one? Everyone wears clothsepins and if you say the word you have to give up your pin. It's all kinds of family fun. Tonight our word was "no". It was epic. I lose these kinds of games really really fast, so I gave up and turned to the camera.

After a while it got boring for everyone to keep the pins on their shirts, so they started showing up on all kinds of fun and painful looking places. That became almost as entertaining as the game.
